For one of our big events this summer, the 20 year White Hat Anniversary, I helped create the products needed, including invitations, posters, and this Air poster below.
Ride to Conquer Cancer
I had to interview and write a story for our extranet about a man working in the airport:
Banff Airporter Employee in ride to conquer cancer
The 2011 Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer will be rolling alongside the Rocky Mountains June 25-26, and one participating Banff Airporter employee working at YYC said he’s “just doing it for others.”
Roland McClure, known by others as Rocky, has been riding his bike back and forth from work in preparation for the upcoming ride, a total distance of about 25-30km a day, he said.
Although Rocky has had no close personal family or friends suffer from cancer, the ride means a lot to him. “You’re there to show your support for people who have cancer,” he said. He believes the race is a symbolic gesture of support to those who are suffering from cancer.
Rocky made the change to riding his bike after he decided he needed to be healthier. Diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, and looking for a change, Rocky started riding to work every day. He noticed his commuting time reduced and his weight lowered.
However, Rocky’s journey came to a halt four-and-a-half months ago when he injured his foot and had to take over a three-month break from riding. The hardest part for him was dealing with the doubt from people who wouldn’t sponsor him anymore because they assumed he would no longer take part in the ride.
Rocky said he will be pedaling in June, despite any setbacks. In order to be a part of the ride participants have to raise a minimum of $2,500 to be donated to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Rocky is about half way there, but still needs to make up the difference to ride alongside everyone.

Currently Rocky is back on track from his injury and training to prepare himself for the ride. His hopes for next year include a team made up of YYC employees participating in the ride.
“The one thing I respect about Alberta and even Canada in general, is that these events make a difference,” said Rocky.

Holiday Posters
I had to make all the holiday posters for this summer and the rest of the year. My task was to make them in keeping with the brand standards guide, including finding an image that worked with our brand.
YYC Beginnings Board Game
This year we developed a board game for new recruits into our department. This is the design I created.
ACI Award Susbmissions
Every year airports across North America submit entries to the ACI awards. This year we were responsible for choosing what to submit and how to submit them. We came up with the idea of doing a catalogue with all of our promotional swag from last years stampede. These are the photos I took to go in to the document.
